eyes. Imagine. Is it possible to have a world without music?
Music is the human, in his deepest sense.
But, it is so human that sometimes we don't realize its existence,
or its fundamental importance.
Present in the day to day, in every moment of our whole life,
music becomes invisible! As if it were something automatic, part
of Nature, music becomes a part of our soul, as if it were us.
Seemingly without value, without importance.
In the year 2020 the world was plunged into the drama of a virus
that paralyzed people. Governments rushed to financially compensate
some businesses and industries - in some cases without them having
ever received anything at all. But in general, the musicians
didn't receive any support!
In the past, we had records, then CDs, people collected their
favorite musicians. This had made musicians' lives possible.
It was about a kind of symbiosis.
This is all over. Everything became apparently free. You go to
the various websites and apparently it is possible to listen
to everything you want.
Always apparently.
In fact, you hear the same more and more.
And this big "middle" becomes even more mediocre, even
more the same, as time goes on.
And musicians are dying. After all, everything is already recorded.
They are no longer important.
It is, in my view, a tragedy at a civilizational level.
In a certain sense it's the same as going back to the Middle
Ages, with the minstrels.
So, I decided to publish in book a photo essay about musicians, which
I made over 45 years, with 100 musicians (1975-2020).
It is a celebration of all musicians.
Here, in this website, you can watch to a short movie with those
photos - with a music composition of mine, created in 2006 in
New York City, where a Morse Code "sings" Henry David
Thoreau's On the Duty of Civil Disobedience.
Many were or are dear friends, I worked with several of them,
all were or are delicious people and great musicians.

Debussy was used to say that music "is a dream from which
the veils have been lifted. It's not even the expression of a
feeling, it's the feeling itself".
It is a feeling we all share, spiritually.
The day we lost music, we will automatically be losing the human.
