Joseph
E. Brenner,
born April 29, 1934 in Paris, son of the sculptor Michael Brenner
(Lithuania, 1885 - New York, 1969) and Frances Brenner (New York,
1899 - New York 1996). After primary and secondary education
in New York, received B.A. (Bachelor of Arts, 1953) then M.S.
(Master of Science - Chemistry, 1954) degrees from the University
of Chicago, and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University
of Wisconsin in 1958. In 1959 and 1960, post-doctoral work at
the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich and Massachusetts
Institute of Technology in Cambridge. From 1960 to retirement
in 1993, worked first as a chemist at the central laboratory
of E. I du Pont de Nemours, Inc. in the U.S., then in corporate
development for the Middle East, Africa and Eastern Europe from
the headquarters of Du Pont International in Geneva, Switzerland.
Responsibilities for subsidiaries, technology transfer and joint
ventures. In 1996-8, worked on the establishment of a network
to support high-technology investment in the Suisse Romande.
In 1998, began collaboration with Professor René Berger
and the OEUF (Observatoire pour l'Etude de l'Université
du Futur) on a Colloquium on Challenges of the Internet. Start
of collaboration with Professor Basarab Nicolescu and the International
Center for Transdisciplinary Research and Study (CIRET), Paris
and Michel Camus in the Group 21, Paris. |
