by Nina Colosi, STREAMING MUSEUM is a new hybrid Museum that presents exhibitions
in cyberspace and public spaces on seven continents.
Artists and Innovators
for the Environment
is a threepart,six-month exhibition. Part one, on view from October
3 to December 3, will feature international visionary creators
Buckminster
Fuller, design
scientist; James Nachtwey,photographer; John
Cage, Emanuel
Dimas de Melo Pimenta,
Gustavo Santaolalla, Huang Ruo and Jacob ter Veldhuis, composers; Agnes Denes and Anni Rapinoja artists, Brian Mackern new media artist, Cedar Lake
Dance, and the
Nunatak Band of the British Antarctic base. The exhibition can
be viewed in cyberspace at www.streamingmuseum.org and at Ars Virtual New Media Center
in Second Life. Among the public locations screening the exhibition
are: Africa: Ubuntu Center, Port Elizabeth, South Africa; Asia:
Art Center Nabi, Seoul, Korea; Antarctica: British Antarctic base;
Australia: Federation Square, Melbourne; Europe: BBC screens throughout
the UK; North America: Victory Park, Dallas, Texas, USA; South
America: Centro Municipal de Exposiciones Subte, Montevideo, Uruguay;
Second Life: Ars Virtua New Media Center; and many other locations.
Emanuel Pimenta's
section involves the figures of John Cage; Merce Cunningham; Joseph
Beuys; John Archibald Wheeler; Brazilian forests; the nature in
Abruzzo, Italy; the islands Seychelles; the megacity of Sao Paulo,
Brazil, and a magical garden created there by Marly Freire.
